One to one lessons<\/h3>\n

An individual lesson with one of our teachers will give you the best introduction to the Technique and help you decide if a course of lessons would benefit you.<\/p>\n

Introductory events<\/h3>\n

If you would prefer to find out a bit more about the Alexander Technique before trying a lesson, then come along to one of our introductory events. You can meet us, hear a short talk about what the Alexander Technique is, and how it could benefit<\/a> you. You can also experience the Alexander Technique for yourself in a short practical demonstration, and have your questions answered. Please see Workshops<\/a> for an overview of dates and News & Events<\/a> for more information on introductory events.<\/p>\n

What happens in a lesson?                                                                  <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first lesson will start with a short discussion about what brings you to the Alexander Technique and what you’d like to get from it.<\/p>\n

We will then look at some simple everyday activities such as standing, sitting<\/a> and walking. With verbal instruction and manual guidance the teacher will encourage you to release inappropriate tension during movement and you’ll discover more about habits<\/a> which may be limiting your potential. In this way you’ll come to appreciate how thought affects action and you’ll experience greater alertness and lighter and freer movement.<\/p>\n

In time and with practice you will be able to use your new understanding and skill in more complex and demanding activities and situations in your daily life. You can bring awareness and poise to anything that you do.<\/p>\n

What shall I wear?<\/h3>\n

It’s helpful to wear comfortable clothing which doesn’t limit ordinary everyday movements. We will ask you to take off your shoes.<\/p>\n

Are there any exercises?
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From the very first lesson your teacher will give you guidelines and suggestions for applying the technique in your daily life. However these are not exercises – instead you’re learning a more conscious use of your muscular system. Therefore you also don’t need to practise any exercises at home: Your daily life is the exercise!<\/p>\n

How long does a lesson last?<\/h3>\n

Lessons normally last 40 minutes, although your first lesson may be slightly longer.<\/p>\n

How much does a lesson cost & how can I pay?<\/h3>\n

Lessons cost \u20ac60. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer.<\/p>\n

Current Introductory offer<\/strong> – Book three lessons and receive the third lesson free – to give you time to find out how the Technique can help you. \u20ac120 for your first three lessons.<\/p>\n

Under certain circumstances discretionary discounts are available and SVS insured persons can apply for the SVS “Gesundheitshunderter”. More information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How many lessons do I need?<\/h3>\n

It’s difficult to answer that question without having some knowledge of your individual needs, and certainly this is something to discuss with your teacher. As a rule of thumb you’ll need between eight and twelve lessons to begin applying the technique to your life. Many people enjoy it so much they have more.<\/p>\n

Can I just try one?<\/h3>\n

Yes, start with one lesson and find out if the Alexander Technique is for you.<\/p>\n

What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?<\/h3>\n

There is no charge if you need to cancel or move a lesson giving more than 24 hours’ notice. If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, we ask for half the lesson fee.
