The way we use a tool affects how it functions. The way we use ourselves – how we move, breathe and think – affects how we function.

The Alexander Technique is a practical way for becoming aware and taking control of how we use ourselves.

Our thinking is reflected in our postures and movements. Equally, our postures and movements influence our thinking.

It is possible to regain the ease & grace of movement we had as small children. By changing our habits we can move with less tension and strain.

The Alexander Technique teaches us how not to interfere with the normal working of the postural mechanisms and so reinstate a natural, innate control of poise and movement.

The Alexander Technique is used by performers who need to function at their best – with minimum effort and maximum efficiency. Some of the many institutions which include the Alexander Technique in their teaching are:

Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
The Menuhin School
Juilliard School
Royal National Theatre
Royal Academy of Music
Royal College of Music
London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
New York University
Metropolitan Opera
Guildhall School of Music and Drama
Central School of Speech and Drama
Royal Northern College of Music
New England Conservatory of Music
Sydney Conservatorium of Music
